Greetings Wine Lovers!

American Wine Society (AWS), the oldest and largest consumer-based wine education organization in North America, is pleased to announce, North Wake AWS, a new wine tasting group bringing together wine enthusiasts from North Raleigh, Wake Forest and surrounding areas. From beginner to expert, anyone interested in learning about wine can join (but you must be 21).

We’ll taste a handful of wines few Americans have ever experienced… We’re hosting a fun and informative tasting of surprising varietals and blends that are certain to stimulate the senses and please palates! You’ll find excellent new potions for porch parties, picnics and summer entertaining. After the tasting, some of the wines will be available at special discount prices.

Let’s See… Swirl… Smell… Sip… and Spit Together!

At AWS, you’ll learn the 5 S’s for evaluating and understanding the sensory side of wine. We’ll introduce the AWS Wine Evaluation Chart and the Aroma Wheel — an indispensable tool created by UC Davis Professor and Sensory Scientist, Ann C. Noble. Our chapter will host exciting monthly tasting events where members research the wines to teach each other and guest speakers (winemakers, distributors, and other professionals) present unusual, often exclusive wines, and food & wine pairings.

AWS President, Jane Duralia, and Regional Vice President, Alex Ancuta, will be our honored guests who will discuss briefly how to build our new chapter, the essential leadership positions needed, and the exciting monthly programs and tasting events we’ll enjoy. AWS membership is just $49 per year ($62 for two-member households) and $85 for professional members. Wine lovers can visit 3 of these fun events to try us out before joining.
